About the Founder
Early Life
Jennifer Shelton's musical journey commenced in childhood, when she began composing music on the family piano without any formal training. Recognizing her innate talent, her mother encouraged her passion by enrolling her in music studies. In middle school, Jennifer's creativity was acknowledged with a talent award for her original music composition. Her mother continued to support her development by enrolling her in a program for young music composers.
While still in middle school, Jennifer started to receive recognition for her other abilities, such as her vocal talent. She was asked to join the adult choir at her local church when she was still a preteen. Jennifer was notably philosophically precocious, having read some of Aristotle's and Plato's works on her own in this time frame, and gained permission to join the adult Bible study, also as a preteen.
In high school, Jennifer led a young women's group to sing one of her music compositions for a structured church award. She also received a regional award for a collection of her poetry and joined the Thespian Society. After graduating at the top of her class, she left home at the age of 17 to pursue higher education.
Education
Jennifer attended a few colleges, including a prestigious Seven Sisters institution, where she studied neuroscience and cognitive science. She later transferred to a renowned university consistently ranked in the top 1% nationally, where she completed two Bachelor's degrees—one focused on cognitive science and the other on philosophy - with a minor in Linguistics. By that time, she had formally studied at least five languages. Years later, she started (but did not finish) a technology-related Master's degree through an Ivy League extension school, achieving a 4.0 GPA.
Work Experience
In her professional career, Jennifer served as the liaison to the music business unit of a multinational technology company, and oversaw over three hundred individuals in three different countries as a member of a distributed management team. Afterwards, her leadership and strategic vision enabled her to lead multi-million dollar software projects for well-known national companies.
Return to Music
Around the time of the pandemic, Jennifer took a step back from the corporate world, which allowed her the opportunity to reconnect with her passion for music. This period of reflection and creativity culminated in the founding of Holy Dove Records, where she uses her innate music talents combined with technology to create music works that promote the heritage and legacy of Christianity.
